POP - Portal of Portuguese Opera

Portuguese Opera accessible to all!

A digital platform to enhance access to and dissemination of Portuguese opera.

An accessibility tool that brings together information about Portuguese opera from its origins to the present day, its context and evolution, composers, and a list of operas with synopses and typologies. It will also provide scores in vocal and piano versions to promote dissemination and information on how to acquire or access general scores.

It aims to be a national and international gateway to the knowledge and dissemination of Portuguese opera, targeting the general public: from amateurs and students to teachers and professionals in the field – composers, librettists, singers, conductors, musicians, directors and programmers – and all those interested in the operatic genre.

This portal should be a tool for everyone, inviting discovery.

It will provide reduced version scores for free download, including sheet music in the public domain and other excerpts from operas, as well as information regarding their accessibility.

And also…

An English version will also be available to promote international dissemination. It is being developed by the Ópera do Castelo with a team of musicologists and contributions from various sources and institutions such as the National Library, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, National Museum of Music, TNSC, among others.
