Poetry in the German Lied

Conference

The Lied genre – a form of art song – has captivated the greatest composers and poets since its establishment during the German Romantic period with Franz Schubert, extending to other linguistic, poetic, and musical universes to the present day. A symbiotic relationship between poetry, song, and music has given rise to the richest, most subtle, fragrant, and captivating repertoire. Small films for our senses.

This conference with philosopher Maria Filomena Molder and the essayist and one of the greatest translators of German literature and “Lieder” (songs), proposes a reflection in conversational format, addressing the poetry, literary myths, and philosophical evocations that have most marked and emanated from this genre.

Maria Filomena Molder, philosopher
João Barrento, translator and essayist
