Conversations with death

Conversations with Death summon its soft, hypnotic “Apparition” in the silent night with American composer George Crumb’s cycle (1979) based on poems by Walt Whitman. This cycle in this configuration was premiered as part of the concert by the Sond’Arte electric ensemble “Three women”, Festival Croma 2023 and this this new alignment will be accompanied by some of the most extraordinary songs by Schubert, the great father of German Lied, such as “Gretchen at the Spinning Wheel” from of Goethe’s Faust, which the young Schubert wrote when he was just 17 years old or “Death and the Maiden” among others. The production will be directed by dancer and choreographer Tiago Barreiros, featuring soprano Camila Mandillo, accompanied on the piano by Filipe Gaio Pereira.
